A sedimentary rock, the Chandore stone is a fine-paste marble limestone of light beige color, finely textured, showing small lines and crystallized flecks of calcite with a light golden rose veining.
Non-porous and frost-resistant, this natural stone of a very great hardness like the Hauteville limestone has been chosen for the construction of numerous works in France and abroad: Natural History Museum in Paris, Landmark Gallery in Hong Kong, the Spa of the Château of Berne in Provence, private residences such as in Cologny – Geneva. The Chandore was in the first place the historic and emblematic stone of the city of Lyon (the Palais de Justice, the tunnel of the Croix Rousse). The Chandore limestone is characterized by its high qualities of resistance to climatic and physical agressions.
The Chandore exists in two varieties: Chandore, Chandore Clair.
